NORNS

A sculptural net installation with sound inspired by Norse mythology, in particular the Norns, spinners of fate, who are mentioned in the poem Völuspá of the Poetic Edda:

20. Thence come the maidens | mighty in wisdom,
Three from the dwelling | down 'neath the tree;
Urth is one named, | Verthandi the next,--
On the wood they scored,-- | and Skuld the third.
Laws they made there, and life allotted
To the sons of men, and set their fates.

The net was woven during an artist residency in Blackstad (Småland) in August 2017. The accompanying sound piece mixes field recordings of nature with treated voice recordings. The installation was shown as part of a two-person show, 'Heathen' with Albin Wiberg, at Ateljéföreningen ADDO in Malmö.
